ZMQ is using its Ajeevika Connect – and re-adapting it for COVID-19 response. It is a mobile based Skills Development and Livelihood Generation platform for poorest of the poor women under Self Help Groups (SHGs). Aajeevika Connect’s digital platform provides training, skills and entrepreneurial development to SHG women at their doorsteps. It comprises of mobile (tablet) based training in local language embedded with face-2-face training twice a month. The trainings are based on three domains – Farm (agriculture), Off-Farm (dairy & fisheries) and Non-Farm (local manufacturing). Training modules are interactive and designed with rich multi-media, quality graphics and audio-visual support through mobile to cater semi-literate women as well. The platform is flexible for other content providers to deliver their training modules. We are converting this platform to train the daily wage workers who have been rendered jobless workers and converted as migrant workers after the closure of their small and medium industries, loss daily wages, pandemic lockdowns and layoffs.
One of the aftermaths of COVID-19 will be rise in unemployment in the poor communities, especially wage workers and migrant communities. Under Ajeevika Connect, we are developing new training program to skill migrants and wage-workers; and ensure that they have a dignified life.
